3quilts

In this series I was using the history of quiltmaking as a form of story telling. There is alot of text in the works dealing with women's history, such as the witch burnings of the middle ages. I used cavas, burlap, oil stick, found objects, soil, needle work and photocopy transfers in the making of these pieces. The first quilt took me 4 months to make. Quilts 2 and 3 took 4 months together. I also did a performance piece about the issues in the works as well as a short 8mm black and white film. This series or works earned me a scholarship into my fourth year at the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design. I graduated in May 1998.
